“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
The entire revelation of the will of God is summed up in these two commandments. The first of these speaks of man’s relationship with God. We are to love God above all things, with all we have, with all we are, with our entire being. The second speaks of man’s relationship with his fellow man. We are to love each other sacrificially, selflessly, putting each other’s needs above our own desires.
It is easy for us to sacrifice for those who love us. But that is not the standard God requires. We are called to love, period. God does not qualify His commandment. There are no loopholes. We are simply commanded to love.
One way we can love is to band together to meet the physical needs of the people in our communities, sharing what we have with those who don’t have enough. Willing2Share can help you do that. Willing2Share, Inc.’s mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism, discipleship and good works. We support this mission by “distributing the provision of God to those who have need.” (Acts 2:45) To donate, visit the Willing2Share “Want to Help?” page. Need help? There is a page for that too.
